2015 Kettering University FIRST Robotics Scholarship recipients announced: FIRST Robotics taught Emily Poirier of Team 217 (Thunder Chickens) about the importance of “working as a team and thinking on your feet.” It will also help her to pay for college as she is one of 44 high school students who received a FIRST Robotics Scholarship to attend Kettering University in 2015. Summer camps offered at FIRST Robotics Community Center at Kettering University: The FIRST Robotics Community Center (FRCC) at Kettering University is hosting a number of Robotics Camps for students in 1st-12th grades. Proceeds from annual Kettering University Homecoming Car Show benefit SAE teams: The Homecoming Car Show was re-launched in 2013, but car shows have long been part of Kettering University’s history. The first GMI/Kettering car show took place in 1964. During the first Homecoming Car Show in 2013, Dave Langdon ‘65 displayed his 1941 Buick, which he also displayed at the first show at Kettering when he was a student in 1964. Read more.
Kettering University SAE Aero Design team finishes ninth in competition: The Kettering University SAE Aero Design team continues to improve its standing in national competitions as they finished ninth out of 17 teams competing in Micro Class in the April 2015 competition in Los Angeles. Read more.
Kettering University DECA receives top awards at International Career Development Conference: Kettering University students took three top awards at the Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando April 18-21. Kettering’s team went head-to-head against 1,500 students from the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Three students took second place in the Advertising Campaign team event, and four took honorable mention in Business-to-Business Marketing and Emerging Technologies. Read more.

Kettering University represented at international nanotechnology conference in China: Dr. Lisandro Hernandez de la Peña, assistant professor of Chemistry at Kettering University, was invited to speak at the Energy Materials Nanotechnology (EMN) Meeting on Quantum Technologyin April. Kettering University Baja team posts best finish in five years at competition: For the second time this year, the Kettering University Baja team posted their best result in five years, finishing 47th out of 99 teams at the competition in Maryland from May 7-10. Read more.
Kettering University graduate displays art exhibit in Humanities Art Center: Draper graduated from Kettering University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He worked for General Motors until he retired in the early 2000s after which he began experimenting with his own painting technique. Read more.

Annual computer engineering camp for high school students returns to Kettering University in July: The Computer Engineering department at Kettering University is offering two summer camps for high school students looking to learn how consumer electronics, automobiles and robots are made “smart.” The first camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from July 20-24 followed by the second camp from July 27-31. Kettering University Formula SAE team finishes 16th at Michigan International Speedway: The Kettering University Formula SAE team greatly improved upon its performance from a year ago as they finished 16th overall out of 105 teams in the competition at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) on May 15-17. Annual GM to GMI relay race raises funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: Every year since 2010, a small group of Phi Delta Theta fraternity members at Kettering University have been running a 62-mile relay race that starts at the General Motors Headquarters in Detroit and ends at the Kettering University campus. Ed Arends '57 hosts luncheon for fellow alumni: Every morning for four years, Ed Arends ‘57 took the bus from his home on Atherton Road and Grand Traverse Street north to Kettering University (then General Motors Institute). Even during his co-op term, his routine did not change as he switched from the classrooms on the west side of Chevrolet Avenue to the factory floor on the east side to Chevy Manufacturing. Read more.
