Kettering University Team Aces Debut Performance in Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition

The KU Bulldog Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC) Team was named the best rookie team, took second place in the function and track test, and finished fourth overall at the annual competition.
It was the first time the University fielded a team at the competition, in which students design, develop, document, test and sell systems engineering projects. This was the 28th year for the competition, which features two challenges — the AutoNav Challenge and the Self Drive Challenge.

Kettering University Online Professor Honored for ‘Teaching in Excellence’

Kettering University Online Faculty Mentor and Professor Dr. Anjali Barnick was honored with the "Teaching in Excellence" award at the Global Forum for Education and Learning Conference (GFEL) on June 23 in Las Vegas.

Dr. Barnick teaches Leadership, Managing People & Orgs., Leadership and Ethics as well as Engineering Ethics, among others. The courses span the MBA, MS Operations Management and Engineering Management programs online.

GFEL is a three-day, knowledge-based value conference that brings together leaders of the education sector to lead, regulate, empower and improve the means of education transmittal.

The Telly Awards

Kettering wins two Telly Awards

Kettering University received a silver and a bronze Telly award for a video highlighting the Flint Community and the inspirational “We Are Bulldogs” video series produced during the height of the pandemic.

The Telly awards recognize outstanding achievements by animators, directors, producers and other talents in video and television production across a variety of mediums. This was the 42nd year for the annual Telly awards, which had  a theme of “Your Stories Defy the Limits.” More than 12,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents were submitted this year to be judged by more than 200 previous winners who work in the industry.

The award-winning Kettering videos were produced by the Kettering University Creative Media Studios. The videos were:

2022 Best Colleges U.S. News & World Report Rankings

2022 U.S. News & World Report: Kettering University Among Best in Nation

Kettering University has once again secured top spots among higher educational institutions — including No. 12 of more than 150 higher education institutions in the Midwest — according to the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2022 rankings. Nationally, Kettering moved up four spots from last year to No. 13 on the list of best undergraduate engineering programs at schools without doctorate programs. The Kettering mechanical engineering program also ranked No. 13. 

The report, which is in its 37th year, assesses bachelor’s degree-granting colleges and universities in the United States on 17 measures of academic quality, including graduation and retention rates, student-faculty ratio and the average federal loan debt of graduates. This year’s report analyzes 1,466 institutions, including 157 in the Midwest.

College Gazette Names Kettering No. 1 Automotive Engineering School in the U.S.

Kettering University earned the No. 1 spot in the College Gazette’s 10 Best Automotive Engineering Schools in the U.S. in 2021., The report credits the Mobility Services and Automotive Engineering Design concentrations with giving students a deep understanding of vehicles’ mechanical, electrical and computer systems.

“As a result of the top-tier curriculum, graduates are prepared to be leaders and entrepreneurs,” the article stated. “Alumni have become founders and CEOs of well-known companies such as General Motors and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.”

The article also recognizes the University’s variety of labs and students’ ability to select labs and classes to match their career goals. Founded in 2019, the College Gazette researches colleges and stays updated on best practices for admission to be a leading resource for information on higher education in the U.S.

Kettering Named One of the Best Colleges in the Country by Princeton Review

The Princeton Review has named Kettering University as one of the best 387 Colleges in the United States for 2022. The list, which is in its 30th year, is based on responses from more than 140,000 students.  

Some of the University highlights for students are Kettering’s Co-op program and amount of student activities available. The Co-op program allows students to alternate academic, on-campus terms attending classes with on-site work experience at one of more than 400 partner organizations and companies. This unique advantage earned by Kettering students instantly arms them with a bachelor’s degree and 2 ½ years of professional experience when they graduate.

State Names Kettering as a Veteran-Friendly School

For the fifth time, Kettering University has been recognized as a top military- and veteran-friendly school by a Michigan state agency working to support and break down barriers for those who served our country. 

The University was one of only 23 schools in the state to earn a silver-status designation in the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) Veteran-Friendly Schools (VFS) program, which “recognizes post-secondary institutions committed to supporting the needs of military-connected students.” The VFS program was created in 2015.
