Kettering University’s annual Homecoming celebration returns May 15-17 this year with a weekend full of activities aimed at celebrating the University’s long history of exceptional education, reconnecting with friends and offering a glimpse at Kettering’s exciting present and future.
This year’s festivities annual favorites like the car show and faculty poster session as well as the beginning of new traditions, including a Friday evening pub crawl at some of the thriving new establishments in a rapidly revitalizing downtown Flint and an Innovation Super Quest competition for Kettering students.
“Homecoming is a great opportunity to not only reconnect and reminisce with friends, it’s also a chance to see up close the many improvements being made to campus, the incredible research being done by faculty and to see how our amazing students are adding to the storied legacy of this great University,” said Susan Davies, vice president for University Advancement and External Relations. “There’s great energy at Kettering and in the city of Flint right now, and Homecoming is a perfect time to celebrate the transformations happening here.”
This year, Homecoming will feature a dinner honoring the graduating classes of 1955, 1960, 1965, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010. An honor wall recognizing outstanding faculty as well as recipients of the annual Kettering University Distinguished Alumnus Award will be unveiled in the Great Court. Both the Department of Physics and the Connie and Jim John Recreation Center will also be celebrating their 20th anniversaries with events planned during Homecoming.
“Each year, Homecoming gives us a great opportunity to recognize achievements of some of the many outstanding people who make this University great,” Davies said. “This year’s events will include a nice mix of recognitions for alumni, faculty, staff and students who have made a positive impact on Kettering in a variety of ways throughout the University’s history.”
