A virtual partnership

The Oxford Virtual Academy and Kettering University have partnered together in order to provide expanded and improved services to students. A second learning lab located directly on Kettering’s campus in Flint opened on, Tuesday, September 4, 2013.

“We formed a partnership with Kettering as a result of their sponsorship of the Oxford Robotics team,” explained Janet Schell, Lead Mentor Teacher.

Two highly-qualified staff members will be available to assist students daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. OVA Director Andrew Hulbert said Kettering took an undesignated room and created a dynamic learning environment, all in an effort to partner to benefit the Flint community.

They will be able to take 19 different AP courses, six different foreign language courses… a whole host of new classes to meet their needs.”

Students will have the benefit of a classroom in order to receive in-person instructional and mentor support. The lab will service the communities surrounding the Flint area. In addition, a homeschool network is currently working with OVA to bring a new homeschool location to the Flint area in the near future.
