Dr. Ilya Kudish, professor of Applied Mathematics at Kettering University, has been invited to contribute treatises on the topics of Lubrication and Contact Fatigue Modeling to the Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS) developed under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The EOLSS is an archival source of reference for a variety of subjects relevant to sustainable life on this planet. Kudish was approached to provide treatises on Lubrication and Contact Fatigue Modeling because of his expertise in the field of Tribology.

Tribology is the science and engineering of interacting surfaces in relative motion, including the study and application of the principles of friction, lubrication and wear.

“I am honored and humbled to be invited to participate in such a worthwhile project as the EOLSS,” said Kudish, “I admire its focus on sustainable development and its commitment to free access for developing nations, educational institutions and students.”
