“We are very proud of the fact that we came together and made a conscious decision to bring our colleagues to this area.”
Residence Life at Kettering University, chair of the host committee, is organizing the 2015 Great Lakes Association of College and University Housing Officers (GLACUHO) annual conference from November 8-10 in Flint, Michigan.
Riverfront Residence Hall and University of Michigan – Flint Residence Life staff are also members of the host committee. The annual regional conference began in 1973 and this is the first time it will be hosted in Flint.
“We are very proud of the fact that we came together and made a conscious decision to bring our colleagues to this area,” said Katie Bosio, director of Residence Life at Kettering University.
GLACUHO represents Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio and is part of the national Association of College and University Housing Officers (ACHUHO). Approximately 350 working professionals in higher education residence life in the Midwest are expected to attend the three-day conference that will tackle topics related to student life, facilities and management of programs and institutions.
Judy Mause, recently retired from the University of Cincinnati, will serve as the keynote speaker and facilitator at the conference.
The annual conference will include an evening session at the Flint Farmer’s Market and a social in downtown Flint to go along with the presentations addressing modern challenges and opportunities in residence life.
“We are very proud of our higher education institutions in Flint and what they represent and we feel this is a great opportunity to display Flint’s revitalization to a greater community,” Bosio said.
