“My wish for each and every student graduating is to be curious, take risks, stay humble and take time to reflect with pride on all that you have accomplished.”
Kettering alumnus Brady Ericson (’94, ME), Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President and General Manager of Fuel Systems and Aftermarket, will deliver Kettering University’s 2022 Commencement address at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at Atwood Stadium. This is the third Commencement ceremony since the stadium has been refurbished. The University hosted ceremonies for the classes of 2020 and 2021 at the historic venue last year.
Ericson, who serves on Kettering’s engineering advisory council, was instrumental in developing Kettering’s new BorgWarner Scholars Program, an innovative and dynamic internship program supporting underrepresented students in STEM fields and revitalizing the mentoring aspect of Kettering’s hallmark cooperative education model.
Commencement weekend will kick off at 6 p.m. Friday, June 17, with an invitation-only Academic Honors Banquet honoring several categories of graduates:
- President’s Medal winners, awarded to students who have demonstrated excellence in cooperative employment, scholarship and community engagement.
- Sobey Scholar awards, given to students who were elected to an academic honor society and the Robots Society.
- Summa cum laude awardees; students who earned a grade point average of 3.90 or higher.
- The Outstanding Thesis Award, determined by the awardee’s thesis adviser and faculty on the Senior Thesis Committee.
“My wish for each and every student graduating is to be curious, take risks, stay humble and take time to reflect with pride on all that you have accomplished,” Ericson said. “Your graduation marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next; strive to make all your chapters impactful ones.”
In recognition of his outstanding achievements in industry and long service to Kettering, Ericson will receive an honorary doctorate of engineering degree.
In March 2022, Ericson was appointed to his current position, where he is responsible for BorgWarner’s global Fuel Systems and Aftermarket business. He has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility and has taken overseas assignments in Europe and Asia since joining BorgWarner in 2000.
Ericson previously held various sales and engineering positions at Honeywell (formerly AlliedSignal) and Ford Motor Company.
