High school students across the Midwest will have an opportunity to earn a full tuition scholarship to Kettering University in the annual Math Olympiad competition on Saturday, November 22.

The first-to-third place finishers in the Olympiad will receive a full 4.5 year tuition scholarship to Kettering University. The fourth-to-seventh place finishers will receive a 4.5-year half tuition scholarship. The competition will take place on the campus of Kettering University in Flint, Michigan, and at Kettering Fairmont High School in Kettering, Ohio.

“The Math Olympiad is a phenomenal opportunity for high school students to challenge themselves academically and compete versus their peers in the Midwest,” said Dr. Leszek Gawarecki, Mathematics department head at Kettering University. “The competition is designed to identify and encourage students to continue to pursue mathematics in high school and in their collegiate careers.”

The Math Olympiad is a four-hour competition consisting of six challenging problems that require knowledge of geometry, trigonometry and introductory calculus. This year’s event is Kettering University’s 13th annual Math Olympiad competition and is open to any student enrolled in a public, private or home-school high school program. Mathematically talented middle school students can also enter the competition. There is no registration fee to participate in the competition.
