“Helping hand out water and cheer on runners at this fun event is another great opportunity to show the spirit the Kettering community has for Flint. All you need to bring are comfortable shoes and smiling faces.”
Volunteers are needed to help man Kettering University’s hydration station during the annual Atwood Stadium 10K and 5K run and walk on July 19.
Kettering’s hydration station will be at the corner of University and Chevrolet avenues in front of the Flint Children’s Museum. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and families are invited to volunteer.
The Atwood Stadium race has established itself as a good training race prior to the Crim Festival of Races, which will be Aug. 23 in downtown Flint. The Atwood race allows participants to do either the 10K or 5K, but also gives the option to do both races and earn a “duo” medal. Proceeds from the race benefit Carriage Town Ministries and Atwood Stadium.
“Kettering students, faculty, staff and alumni continuously exhibit great passion for getting involved in the Flint community,” said Jack Stock, director of external relations. “Helping hand out water and cheer on runners at this fun event is another great opportunity to show the spirit the Kettering community has for Flint. All you need to bring are comfortable shoes and smiling faces.”
Approximately 1,000 runners are expected to participate and at least 20 volunteers are needed to man the hydration station from 6:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. To volunteer, contact Jack Stock at jstock@kettering.edu or (810) 762-7873.
Additionally, some road closures should be expected around campus before and during the race. See the course map here.
