Kettering University Launches Online Masters to Meet Rising Demand For Data Experts

New Data Science degree program is fusion of statistical, data management and computing technologies – including data mining, machine learning, cloud computing and visualization

Flint, Mich.Kettering University now offers a master’s degree program that will help meet the growing need for data scientists, which according to the World Economic Forum, will be among the most in-demand roles across most industries by 2022.

Now accepting applications, the new online Master of Science in Data Science degree program was designed to produce highly-qualified and skilled graduates who can generate and manage complex sets of data and leverage it for decision-making and technology development. Students will learn how to design and build new processes for data modeling and production using prototypes, algorithms, predictive models and custom analysis to achieve organizational goals.

Wallace, Vice President for Kettering Global. “Our new Master of Science in Data Science aligns with our university’s mission to prepare students for lives of extraordinary leadership and service by linking transformative experiential learning opportunities to rigorous academic programs in engineering, science, mathematics and business.

The 40-credit degree program consists of 10 courses and offers students the choice of completing a research project, participating in an internship or creating a capstone data science project from start to finish. Conducted 100 percent online, it is ideal for working professionals and can be completed in 24 months. Intake sessions will be offered year-round in the fall, winter, spring and summer.

Prospective students should possess undergraduate or graduate degrees in mathematics, physics, engineering or computer science and related work experience.
