Kettering University will once again have a major presence at one of the city of Flint’s signature events -- the HealthPlus Crim Festival of Races.

This year’s Crim will be Aug. 22-23, with Michigan Mile races taking place on Aug. 22 and the 10-mile, 8K, 5K and Teddy Bear Trot races taking place on Aug. 23. Kettering University is a sponsor of the Hydration Station at the corner of University and Chevrolet avenues, in front of the Flint Children’s Museum and Flint radio station CK 105.5 will be broadcasting live on the sidewalk in front of the Academic Building.

“The University and Chevrolet intersection is one of the most prominent locations on the Crim course, and we hope to have a major Kettering presence there cheering on runners,” said Jack Stock, Kettering University director of external relations. “We’d like to invite any of our students in the dorms or Campus Village apartments or faculty and staff and their families in that area to head to that corner and check out the race there.”

Kettering is also once again hosting an event at 501 Bar and Grill, 500 S. Saginaw Street, in downtown Flint for Kettering alumni, students, faculty and staff from 7 a.m. to noon. There will be refreshments and spectators can watch the race from 501, or participants can leave belongings with Kettering staff to watch while they race.

Many Greek and student organizations, including Delta Tau Delta, Sigma Nu,  FIJI, Theta Xi, Lambda Chi Alpha and Sigma Chi, will also participate in the Crim, serving as volunteers and cheering on runners at various places throughout the course.

“The Crim is not only a great event for the athletic and wellness community in Flint, it’s a great event for socializing and goodwill as well,” Stock said. “We welcome all of the students, alumni, faculty and staff from the Kettering community in the area for the race to stop by 501 and reconnect.”
