More than 100 Genesee County students will showcase their inventions from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, at the Young Innovators Fair at Kettering University.
The third- through eighth-grade students are participants in the Kettering Young Innovator Program, project-based curriculum that provides hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) educational enrichment opportunities. The program helps schools introduce fun invention curriculum to students in the form of a teachable unit, a club or an after-school program that culminates in a school competition.
The top inventions are selected to move on to the Young Innovators Fair.
This year, 137 students will present their inventions to judges and other students. This is the ninth year Kettering has hosted the Young Innovators Fair. The event’s winners will advance to the Michigan Invention Convention at The Henry Ford.
Following their presentations, students will have lunch and hear from guest speaker Peter Deppe, a 2019 graduate of Kettering University and co-founder of KUHMUTE. After lunch, students will participate in various hands-on STEAM activities.
