Kettering University hosted is 109th Commencement Ceremony on June 17, awarding degrees to 331 graduates.

Sonia Syngal ’93, President and CEO of Old Navy, delivered the Commencement Address.

“How could a Mechanical Engineering degree from Kettering possibly be the foundation for the CEO of Old Navy, someone who sits in meetings about $1 flip flops and is focused on selling the number one jean in America?” Syngal said. “You know why? Because above all, that degree, from this University, taught me about hard work.”

In its history, Kettering University has conferred bachelor’s degrees to 33,324 graduates and master’s degrees to 4,700 graduates. Kettering graduates have gone on to successful careers in a wide range of industries, and the University is routinely ranked among the best in the country for Return on Investment and Alumni Earning Potential, including being ranked No. 1 in the Midwest in both categories by PayScale.com.

“Graduates, we are extraordinarily proud of you and of what you have accomplished,” said Kettering University President Dr. Robert K. McMahan. “Remember that those of us who stay here at Ketteringwill follow your development and accomplishments with pride and admiration.”

Syngal was also awarded an honorary Doctorate of Management degree from Kettering.
