The Kettering University Alumni Association will present awards to nine alumni and one longtime faculty member at the 2013 annual Alumni Awards Dinner & Ceremony starting at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 16th at The Fairlane Club in Dearborn, Michigan.

The awards celebrate contributions of Kettering University alumni in a variety of different capacities, including success in business, community service, life, volunteerism and more.

“Kettering University has a truly astounding roster of alumni who have accomplished remarkable things in industry and through their philanthropic efforts,” said Bob Nichols, Kettering University director of alumni engagement. “These awards are the University’s way of showing our gratitude and pride for the exemplary way these individuals represent themselves and the institution as global leaders on a daily basis.”

Here are the 2013 Alumni Award recipients.

Distinguished Honorary Alumni Award

The Distinguished Honorary Alumni Awards are given to individuals who have not graduated from Kettering, but who have given outstanding service to the university and its students.

Young Alumni Award

Joseph Flaig ‘11

Eligible recipients must be graduates within the previous ten years who have rendered significant contributions, exhibited outstanding character, or achieved marked success in areas such as: alumni service, civic achievement, engineering achievement, entrepreneurial achievement…

Civic Achievement Award

Karilyn M. Perry ‘83

The Civic Achievement Award acknowledges significant and unselfish contributions of time and effort that benefit a community.
 

Entrepreneurial Achievement Award

Matthew Sherrow ‘98

The Entrepreneurial Achievement Award celebrates a specific contribution in organizing, managing, and assuming the risk of a business or enterprise.
 

Human Relations Award

Melany Gavulic ‘91

The Human Relations Award honors a graduate who has rendered significant contribution, inspiring unity at Kettering, in the workplace, or in the community.
 

Alumni Service Award

Ernie Platfoot ‘50

The Alumni Service Award recognizes outstanding volunteer service to Kettering University.

 

Engineering Achievement Award

Gene Stefanyshyn ‘81

The Engineering Achievement Award recognizes a specific contribution with a positive and lasting effect in the field of engineering.
