Dr. Bernard Amadei, founding president of Engineers Without Borders/USA, will headline Kettering University’s Engineers Week celebration on campus from February 22-28.
Amadei is a professor of Civil Engineering at the University Colorado at Boulder and his current research interests include sustainability and global development through the Mortenson Center in Engineering for Developing Communities. Amadei is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a recipient of the Hoover Prize which is awarded annually to an individual who exemplifies “outstanding civic or humanitarian service” in the engineering profession.
“It’s an honor to have Dr. Amadei on campus to celebrate Engineers Week,” said Dr. Laura Sullivan, founding faculty advisor for Engineers Without Borders at Kettering. “His achievements are renowned in the global community and students will definitely benefit by hearing about his experiences utilizing engineering skills to improve communities across the world.”
Amadei will deliver a keynote address to campus on Monday, February 22, at 12:30 p.m. in the International Room in the Campus Center. Kettering Dining Services will serve lunch outside the International Room to all students, faculty and staff beginning at 11:30 a.m.
“Engineers Week celebrates all engineers who make the world a better place,” said Betsy Homsher, vice president for Student Life and Dean of Students at Kettering. “We are proud take part in this national campaign to honor all of our alumni engineers while anticipating outstanding contributions from our current students.”
