The Kettering University Alumni Association will honor eight alumni for successes in business, community service, philanthropy and other endeavors during the 2015 Alumni Awards Dinner and Ceremony on October 22.

“The recipients of this year’s awards embody the limitless ability and power of a Kettering University education,” said Susan Davies, Kettering University vice president for University Advancement and External Relations. “The eight alumni being honored are leaders in industry and positive contributors to their respective communities.”

This year’s recipients are:

Distinguished Alumnus - Robert Kagle ‘78

Robert Kagle is the Founder and General Partner at Benchmark Capital. The Distinguished Alumnus Award recognizes graduates who have made specific and exceptional career achievements.

Outstanding Achievement Award - Dan Nicholson ‘87

Dan Nicholson is the Vice President of Global Powertrain at General Motors. The Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes graduates who have made specific and exceptional career achievements.

Engineering Achievement Award - Charlie Klein ‘83

Charlie Klein is the Vice President, Vehicle Engineering General Motors Europe, based in Ruesselsheim, Germany. The Engineering Achievement award recognizes graduates who have made specific contributions with positive and lasting effects in the field of engineering.

Management Achievement Award - Sheri Hickok ‘00

Sheri Hickok is the Chief Engineer at Next Gen Full Size Truck for General Motors. The Management Achievement Award recognizes graduates who have made specific contributions with positive and lasting effects in the field of management.

Management Achievement Award - Jeff Owens ‘78

Jeffrey J. Owens is the Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Delphi Automotive. The Management Achievement award recognizes graduates who have made specific contributions with positive and lasting effects in the field of management.

Alumni Service Award - Paul Cloutier ‘92

Paul Cloutier is the Founder of Levanto Financial, a leader in household finance management technology and services.  The Alumni Service Award recognizes graduates who have given outstanding volunteer service to Kettering University.

Human Relations Award - Marci McGuire ‘96

Marci McGuire is an Engineering Group Manager at General Motors with responsibility for engine control algorithms. The Human Relations award recognizes graduates who have rendered significant contributions that inspire unity at Kettering, in the workplace, or in the community.

Young Alumni Award - Matt Gaidica ‘10

Matt Gaidica graduated from Kettering with a degree in Electrical Engineering and is currently working on a Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Michigan. The Young Alumni Award recognizes graduates from within the previous ten years who have rendered significant contributions, exhibited outstanding character, or achieved marked success in areas such as:  Alumni Service, Civic Achievement, Engineering Achievement, Entrepreneurial Achievement, Human Relations, Management Achievement, or Outstanding Achievement.

The 2015 Alumni Awards Banquet will be held at the Troy Marriott, 200 W. Big Beaver Rd., Troy, MI 48084. The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. Dinner and the awards ceremony will follow at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person and table sponsorships, which include 10 seats, are available for $900.
