Sachin Pindolia '16, Electrical Engineering, is the A-Section Student Body Government President, Assistant Director for Operations Council, member of Academic Council, member of COMPASS Crew and Internal Vice-President of Delta Tau Delta. He's already accepted a full-time Development Engineer position at General Motors upon graduation.

Pindolia also delivered the 2016 Convocation address for the Kettering University Class of 2021. As a follow-up to his address, Pindolia offered the following advice for students working to succeed at Kettering.

1. Plan ahead

Don’t wait until the last minute to do a project that your professor told you about the first day of class. Use a planner and keep it on you. Make sure you do not fall behind because the schedule is rigorous and extremely quick.

2. Don’t fret about not having a co-op

Talk to your co-op advisor, take a look at the job listings on campus, reach out and contact a company that you are interested in. Even if you don’t have one before the first work term, Kettering will employ you on campus. Whether you spend your work term doing research at Kettering or are employed at another company as a co-op, you will be getting great experience.

3. Get involved

In addition to the diverse academic classes offered at Kettering, there are also a ton of clubs you can join and other activities you can do. Check out the list on Kettering’s website and read the weekly newsletter. It tells you stuff. KSG holds lots of cool events like movie nights with root beer floats and guest speakers. Also if you are interested in  something that isn’t an official club, you can start your own.             

4. Stay disciplined

Go to the library in between classes and get some homework done or study instead of socializing in the pool. Study on Fridays after class. If you want to socialize in the evenings, get stuff done before that.

5. Use your connections

Become friends with students, faculty and staff at Kettering. As you get more involved you will meet new people that can help you find co-ops, full-time jobs and with and with getting through coursework at Kettering.
