M.S. West Virginia University, 1998
B.S. University of Bucharest, Romania, 1989
Specialization
- Optics and photonics materials and devices
Research Profile
Prior to joining Kettering University, he worked as a Senior Fiber Optics Engineer with JDS Uniphase in San Jose, California on integrated modules and devices for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) optical fiber communications. In July 2003, he joined Kettering University, where he established the Photonics and Fiber Optics lab. His research interests encompass photonics and fiber optics sensors and devices, magneto-optic properties in ferrofluids, and fluorescent probes for nanothermometers.
Hobbies
Travel, hiking and spending as much time as possible in nature.
Favorite thing about being a faculty member
The focus on practical applications of science allows me to be a physics/optics professor and engineer at the same time.
