University Clubs and Organizations

At Kettering, you’ll find more than 40 clubs and organizations that will help you dive into your interests and develop leadership and even technical skills while making friends.

If you’re looking for student activities within our university clubs, we have options for everything from dance and crew to target shooting and cornhole. If you’re looking for a university club with a cause, you’ll find several, including the Black Student Union, the Pride/Rainbow Alliance and the Society of Women Engineers.

 

Compete on Student Teams

From building and marketing a formula car to esports, there are myriad competition teams at Kettering to enhance your student life — and potentially help you earn scholarship dollars, too. For example, we offer Esports Scholarships worth up to $5,000 per year for newcomers who are active competitors with the Kettering Esports team.

Campus Life — Off Campus

Sometimes you simply need a change of scenery. Whether you’re looking for fun, a morale boost or both, options abound nearby. From the Flint Institute of Arts to the Farmer’s Market and local restaurants, Flint has a lot to offer. 

If you need a break from campus life, Detroit and Lansing are both just an hour away, and have much to offer, such as concert and theater venues, museums and professional sports. Canada is also less than 90 minutes away, and if you enjoy exploring the outdoors, you’ll find loads to do in Northern Michigan and the Great Lakes.

Greek Life at Kettering

At Kettering, our first fraternal organization was founded in 1921. Five years later, in 1926, the first officially recognized organization, the White Elephants, was formed, ushering in a new age of student life on campus.

Today, our Greek community features 11 fraternities, five organizations and three sororities, all aspiring to promote academic excellence, leadership, community service and fellowship on campus.

Giving Back

At Kettering, community engagement and giving back are essential parts of the University’s mission. Enhance your student life off-campus as well by getting involved with the surrounding community. We have many volunteer opportunities to choose from, including Service Saturdays, where you and your fellow students may help with small repair projects, cleanups, food bank assistance and other efforts.

Campus Facilities

At Kettering, many of the buildings on campus work to enrich student life, from the Academic Building to the Tomusko Reflection Studio. At Kettering, our facilities include: 

  • Atwood Stadium, home of Kettering’s intramural and recreational sports programs; area high school football, soccer, lacrosse and marching band; and much more
  • The Connie and Jim John Recreation Center, which actively nurtures student life on campus as our student activities center
  • The Learning Commons, the center of social and academic life on campus

Student and Multicultural Affairs

At Kettering, our Office of Student Affairs team is dedicated to making your student life even better. Furthermore, the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs works diligently to advance our commitment to diversity by providing support services to multicultural students and promoting meaningful activities to enhance intellectual, social, emotional and professional development.

Together with faculty, staff and other community partners, the teams in these offices work to improve your campus life by giving you the space, support, programs and resources you need to grow as an individual, find academic achievement and enjoy civic engagement.

Health and Wellness at Kettering

Wellness is a lifelong process, so we strive to empower students like you to take control of their well-being and fulfill personal goals.

Should you need health, counseling or disability services at Kettering, our Wellness Center will provide you with college-specific nursing care and promote health, wellness and preventive care.

If you’re interested in sports, exercise and fitness classes for wellness, our student activities center has you covered. Reap the benefits of student life at Kettering through our Connie and Jim John Recreation Center. There, you’ll find a track, weight room, pool, basketball courts, fitness classes and club offerings, from rock climbing to ultimate frisbee and much more.
