Intelligent Transportation Laboratory
Intelligent Transportation Laboratory
The Intelligent Transportation Laboratory (ITL) is a collaborative facility dedicated to research and teaching in modern transportation engineering, with a particular focus on ground vehicles. The ITL is shared by students, staff, and faculty who work together to manage its resources.
Specialty research areas include:
- Vehicle dynamics and control
- Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
- Vehicle testing and test methods development
- Tire mechanics and smart tires
- Powertrain dynamometer testing
- Pass-by noise validation
- Vehicle ride quality and structural feel
- Human perception of vibration
Equipment resident in the ITL includes portable multi-channel data acquisition systems, sensors, and Controller Area Network (CAN) interface hardware. These measurement tools enable physical vehicle studies and component bench tests, for the purpose of investigating a multiplicity of concerns in transportation performance.
