2020 Case Report Information
Below is information related to COVID-19 testing the University offered during 2020 for free to all students, staff and faculty through Helix Diagnostics. Testing is done on scheduled dates as well as on-demand as the University identifies potential situations requiring additional testing.
The number of tests performed does include some individuals who tested more than once. Testing dates are listed below, and as results were officially received (typically 3-5 business days), the charts were updated. Not included in the charts are self-reported tests or testing done by individuals who have elected to be tested elsewhere.

December 1

November 1
- Two off-campus students self-reported a positive test result to the Wellness Center. The students are in self-quarantine for a period of time established by the Wellness Center.
November 3
- Five additional positive test results were received through contact tracing for members of the two Greek houses in quarantine. The houses remain in quarantine for a period of time established by the Wellness Center.
November 6
- Three members of the two Greek houses in quarantine retested positive. The houses remain in quarantine for a period of time established by the Wellness Center.
- Additional off-campus students tested positive as a result of contact tracing. All of them are in quarantine for a period of time established by the Wellness Center.
November 12
- A student tested positive and is in self-quarantine for a period of time established by the Wellness Center.
November 13
- Six students tested positive and are in self-quarantine for a period of time established by the Wellness Center.
- Five students who previously tested positive retested positive and remain in self-quarantine for a period of time established by the Wellness Center.
November 20
- Two students tested positive and are in self-quarantine for a period of time established by the Wellness Center.
- Two students who previously tested positive retested positive and remain in self-quarantine for a period of time established by the Wellness Center.

October 5
- An off-campus student tested positive during optional testing offered to off-campus and Greek Life students. That student is in self-isolation and not allowed on campus until after receiving follow-up tests with two negative results. Contact tracing has begun. UPDATE: The student has retested negative twice now and will be allowed to return to campus.
- In addition, there was one employee test with insufficient sample that is being retested This test was counted as part of overall testing, but is not negative or positive. UPDATE: A retest was conducted on October 12 and was negative.
October 16-18
- Twenty-three members of an off-campus fraternity are quarantining after potential exposure to a visitor to the house last weekend recently tested positive. They have been tested and are awaiting results. UPDATE: All 23 members of an off-campus fraternity that were quarantined have tested negative.
- Three off-campus students currently are quarantining out of an abundance of caution after attending an off-campus party this past weekend. They have been tested and are awaiting results. UPDATE: All three students have tested negative.
October 22
- A Thompson Hall student who tested positive continues to self-quarantine off campus and has not been on campus since being tested. UPDATE: The student retested positive on October 30 and remains in self-quarantine off-campus.
October 27
- Five members of a fraternity have tested positive, and the contact tracing process has begun. The house is in quarantine, and all members will be required to be tested and take all classes virtually with no access to campus. Testing will be conducted at the house for members. UPDATE: Additional cases were identified through contact tracing and several positive members have retested positive. The entire house remains in quarantine for a period of time established by the Wellness Center.
October 28
- A faculty member self-reported a positive test result and is in self-quarantine off-campus until receiving two negative results. Contact tracing has occurred.
- An off-campus student tested positive. That student is in self-isolation and not allowed on campus until after receiving follow-up tests with two negative results. Contact tracing has occurred.
October 29
- A member of a fraternity with positive cases tested positive and is in quarantine for a period of time established by the Wellness Center.
- An off-campus student self-reported a positive is in self-quarantine off-campus until receiving two negative results. Contact tracing has occurred.
- A staff member tested positive. The staff member is self-isolating and will not return until after receiving follow-up tests with two negative results.
- An additional Greek fraternity received several positive test results. The entire house remains in quarantine for a period of time established by the Wellness Center.
October 31
- An off-campus self-reported a positive test result to the Wellness Center. The student is in self-quarantine for a period of time established by the Wellness Center.

August 5
- An off-campus student self-reported with COVID-19 symptoms and was tested at the Wellness Center. The student and roommates are in self-isolation and not allowed on campus pending results of the test. UPDATE: Test results reported on Aug. 11 were negative.

Prior to July 13
- Prior to the start of Summer Term, one faculty member self-reported and another tested positive. Both faculty self-quarantined and had no interaction with students or classrooms on campus.
July 24
- An off-campus student self-reported possible COVID-19 symptoms. The student is awaiting test results and is isolating. As a precaution, two Greek houses are currently in quarantine. While in quarantine, they will not be allowed on campus but will continue all coursework virtually. All members of the houses will be required to be tested prior to returning to campus. UPDATE:Testing on all Greek life housing on July 28 and July 30 by the University resulted in all negatives (total of 248 students tested on both days).
July 27
- A faculty member who tested positive on July 8 by University prior to Summer Term beginning was retested on July 27 per University policy before being able to return and tested positive again and will remain self-quarantined. UPDATE: Faculty member retested on Aug. 3 and Aug. 5. Both results were negative.
July 29
- A new faculty member who tested positive in June by personal physician prior to Summer Term beginning was retested on July 29 per University policy before being able to return and tested positive again and will remain self-quarantined.
July 31
- An off-campus student with COVID-19 symptoms was tested at the Wellness Center. Results received on Aug. 5 were positive. That student is in self-isolation and not allowed on campus until after receiving a follow-up test with a negative result. UPDATE: The student has retested negative twice now and will be allowed to return to campus.
