Kettering University Statement on Death of Four Former Students in Illinois Plane Crash

The entire Kettering University community’s hearts are heavy with the news of four of our own tragically killed in a plane crash on Sunday, May 31, in Carlinville, Illinois.

Graduates Joshua Daniel Sweers (’07, Mechanical Engineering), Daniel A. Shedd (’08, Mechanical Engineering), John S. Camilleri (’04, Electrical Engineering) and former student Daniel Schlosser all belonged to Phi Gamma Delta and became lifelong friends.

 “It is devastating to learn of the loss of four young men who connected through shared experiences and time at Kettering,” said University President Dr. Robert K. McMahan. “We are such a tight community that cherishes the bonds built here. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with their family, friends and loved ones.”
