Financial Aid Timeline

The timeline for applying for financial aid is below with links for more information about each step of the application process.  Use this timeline to keep track of important filing deadlines. 

October

  • The FAFSA is available starting October 1.  For consideration for federal, state and institutional grants, federal work study, and federal loans, you should complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.

December

January

  • Award letters are mailed, and are also available electronically, for incoming students.

February

  • Award notifications are emailed to returning students. Awards can be viewed on Student Banner Self Service.

March

  • If you are a Michigan resident, your FAFSA must be received by March 1 in order to be considered for State gift aid.

April

May

  • Scholarship award notifications are sent to returning students.
  • Accept federal loans for A-section.
    • First time borrowers should complete entrance counseling and the Master Promissory Note online at https://studentaid.gov/.

July

August

  • Accept federal loans for B-section.
    • First time borrowers should complete entrance counseling and the Master Promissory Note online at https://studentaid.gov/.
