
FIRST Lego League
Using their creativity, students will participate with others to build their vision of one of several scenarios. They will make use of LEGOS to show how teamwork can bring their vision to reality.

How high and fast will YOUR rocket go? In this exciting course for students grades 1-3, participants will build and launch paper rockets using a 2-liter bottle, PVC pipe, paper clips, and tape. It's a great opportunity to discover the laws of force, pressure, and motion — and bring those lessons to flight in the most exciting way imaginable!

Take your love of LEGO to new heights! In this course, students grades 1-3 will build mechanical objects out of LEGO pieces and see them in action (for example, a soccer player that kicks balls and a goalkeeper that stops them). There are 10 other moving objects that will move with motors, gears, pulleys, and sensors. Students will also be introduced to a simple graphical computer language.

If you’re up for a unique engineering challenge, We Do 2.0 has you covered. Students will use a Bluetooth transmitter to move an object that they build — their choice of a race car, helicopter, crane — without being connected to a computer. Experience the rush of seeing your creation come to life, and nurture your passion for a future career in Computer Science.

LEGO Build: LEGOs + friends: is there any better combination? During this portion of camp, students will team up with friends on a brick-building adventure. They’ll be given one of several scenarios and collaborate with teammates to make their vision a reality. In addition to a sweet souvenir, students will come away with lessons on the power of creativity and teamwork.
STEM Exploration: During this portion of the camp, students will engage with robotics mentors who will guide them through STEM-centered lessons, hands-on activities, and demonstrations. Students will walk away will new functional skills, plus a wellspring of inspiration about the possibilities of a future in STEM.

Know what’s even cooler than LEGO? LEGOs that can dance! During this unique class, students will have an opportunity to build a robot and program it to dance using LEGO Mindstorms software. Students will also have an opportunity to decorate their new robot companion and parade it around the FIRST Robotic Center on the Kettering University Campus. Experience STEM learning at its finest!

Calling all aspiring astronauts! Take a simulated trip to the Red Planet with this exciting course combining LEGO and robots. Students will be assigned missions on a Mars Landscape using Kettering’s EV3 robot and LEGO pieces, and compete in a sumo pushing game! But first, they must program the robot to accomplish their specific mission using LEGO Mindstorm software.

If you like science, you will love Humanoid! This one-day course will give 4th-6th graders an opportunity to make a real-life robot and command it to shoot balls, walk around the room, and more.
