About Kettering University's Rankings
Kettering University’s highly-ranked cooperative education program can significantly reduce the cost of a great education while providing important professional experience to students before they graduate. Kettering University is located in Flint, Mich., but has partnerships with more than 700 top companies in over 800 locations around the world, ensuring a career in which anything is possible.
Kettering students complete two-and-a-half years of professional work experience as part of their academic studies and can earn up to $65,000 in salaries during college; and Kettering students land highly paid positions after graduation. Currently, 98 percent of graduates secure professional employment at above-average starting salaries. Kettering is also known for the number of graduates who pursue advanced studies at institutions like Harvard, Yale and Stanford.
Kettering University has retained its #1 ranking for Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) and continues to be ranked in the Top Twenty in the nation in the 2008 edition of "America's Best Colleges Guide," which is published by "U.S.News & World Report."
It is the eighth year in a row that Kettering has been ranked tops in the country. Kettering's category is Undergraduate Engineering schools, whose highest degree is a bachelor's or master's degree.

Kettering’s hands-on cooperative education offers a great way for students to determine whether or not to pursue certain fields. Students develop solid skills in writing resumes, learn how to manage corporate environments and assignments, and develop networking skills that will serve them for their entire career. Students also learn from professionals of diverse backgrounds, which is critical in today’s global economy.
Kettering University offers 10 undergraduate degree programs. Engineering: Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Industrial (some of the more popular specialty concentrations include: Bioengineering applications, Automotive, Crash Safety, Fuel Cell, Electronics, Human Factors, Quality Assurance & Reliability, Manufacturing Systems); Computer Science; Applied Physics (specialties include Acoustics, Optics, Materials); Chemistry; Bio-Chemistry; Applied Math; Business (Accounting/Finance, Information Systems, Manufacturing Management and Marketing).
Founded in 1919, the school changed its name to Kettering University in 1998 to honor Charles F. Kettering, a noted inventor and a pioneering proponent of cooperative education. The school enrolls more than 2,000 undergraduates and more than 600 graduate students in management, manufacturing operations, engineering and information technology.
Accreditation
The University, first accredited on March 29, 1962, continues to be accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering programs are additionally accredited since July 21, 1977, and the Computer Engineering program was accredited on October 1, 1998, by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET). On June 18, 1995, the Management program was accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), 7007 College Boulevard, Suite 420,Overland Park, KS 66211, 913-339-9356. Accreditation documents can be reviewed in the Provost’s Office.
