Kettering will be the host site for WalkAmerica 2001, April 28-29. WalkAmerica is the nation's premier walking event that supports the March of Dimes' mission of saving babies through community services, research and education programs.
This year's Flint WalkAmerica is Sunday, April 29. The eight-mile course starts and ends at Kettering University, on the corner of Third and Chevrolet avenues. The local chair is Angie Schramski of Flint TV station WJRT. Registration opens at 8 a.m., Sunday, April 29. Walkers depart Kettering at 9 a.m. A victory van is available for walkers who start the eight-mile course and prefer to ride to the finish.
The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency, whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies.
