Applied Mathematics Laboratories
Kettering University has several computing laboratories housing many state of the art UNIX and PC-based servers and workstations. These facilities provide a full range of compilers, powerful mathematical and statistical analysis programs, graphics programs, computer-aided graphics, and word processing and spreadsheet programs.
Most of Kettering University's computing labs are accessible to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Most dorms, fraternities, and sororities also have computers connected to Kettering University's intranet.

Applied Mathematics Computing Lab
In addition to the general purpose computing labs, recently the mathematics discipline at Kettering University was awarded nearly two hundred thousand dollars to develop a state of the art PC lab. This computing lab:
- houses more than 30 state of the art PCs running Windows NT®,
- may be used for instruction in the calculus sequence and possibly subsequent courses,
- has state of the art projection systems for instructional demonstrations,
- gives students access to powerful mathematics and statistics software for use in mathematics and engineering courses,
- is connected to a local network and to the Internet.
Applied Mathematics and Tribology Research Laboratory
The lab is capable of analytical research and computational modeling in the fields of applied mathematics and tribology. The lab is capable of performing perturbation and numerical analysis in application to differential, integrodifferential, and integral equations. The specific applications to Applied Mechanics and Tribology supported by the lab include: Contact Mechanics, Crack Mechanics, Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication, Grease modeling, modeling of Surface Crack-Lubricant interaction, modeling of Stress-Induced Degradation of Polymer Additives to Lubricants in testing equipment and lubricated contacts, Structural and Contact Fatigue Modeling. The lab is equipped with three workstations (1 Alpha workstation, 2 Sun workstations) and a color laser printer. There is some software available for computational research on these workstations such as Matlab and Fortran. The lab is a dedicated facility for faculty research.
