All international students, except for Canadian citizens, are required to have a valid U.S. entry visa (in passport) and supporting documents to initially enter the U.S.  This visa is valid for a fixed number of entries or multiple entries and has a specific expiration date.  You may remain in the U.S. legally with an expired entry visa provided that your I-94 and DS 2019 or I-20 are current.

If your visa is denied DS 2019 or I-20 must be returned to Kettering's International Office.

You are advised not to enter the U.S. to pursue studies on a B-2 (visitor) visa unless you have disclosed your intention to study to a consulate officer and obtained prospective student status as evidenced by a "prospective student" notation below the B-2 visa stamp in your passport.
