Restaurant Etiquette

Many restaurants post signs - No shirt - No shoes - No service - at the entrance.  You must abide by these regulations.  Some people in the U.S. are too casual.  Going without shoes can be dangerous and can subject the restaurant owner to a lawsuit should an accident occur.

Most restaurants will package your leftover food to take home (Doggie Bag). You are charged for the first cup of coffee - refills are free of charge  (except specialized coffees - caffe latte, cappuccino, etc.).

Tipping

Tipping for good service is expected in restaurants.  Waiters and waitresses, hairdressers and barbers 15%. No tips are necessary at fast food restaurants where you order and pick up your food at the counter.
