Success coaching is intended to assist students in becoming effective at studying. It is beneficial for students at all levels of motivation, performance, and abilities. Success coaches work with students to set goals, discover effective study strategies, and remove obstacles to success. A coach can review the following study strategies:
- time management
- note taking
- notebook organization
- textbook reading
- test preparation
- test taking
Coaching sessions last about 30 minutes. During the initial session, the coach will assess student's individual situation and identify his/her needs.
Academic Probation
Probation Level I
A student is placed on Probation Level I (P1) if after being in good standing he or she fails to complete 12 credit hours within a term and/or maintain a cumulative GPA ≥ 2.0.
- If the student completes 12 credit hours and maintains a cumulative GPA ≥ 2.0 at the end of the P1 term, the student returns to good standing.
- If the student completes 12 credit hours and earns a term GPA ≥ 2.0 (but a cumulative GPA < 2.0) at the end of the P1 term, the student is held on Probation Level I for the next term.
- If the student fails to complete 12 credit hours and earn a cumulative GPA ≥ 2.0 at the end of the P1 term, the student is placed on Probation Level II.
Probation Level II
A student is placed on Probation Level II (P2) after two consecutive terms in which he or she fails to complete 12 credit hours and/or maintain a cumulative GPA ≥ 2.0.
- If the student completes 12 credit hours and maintains a cumulative GPA ≥ 2.0 at the end of the P2 term, the student returns to good standing.
- If the student completes 12 credit hours and earns a term GPA ≥ 2.0 (but a cumulative GPA < 2.0) at the end of the P2 term, the student is held on Probation Level II for the next term.
- If the student fails to complete 12 credit hours and maintain a cumulative GPA ≥ 2.0 at the end of the P2 term, the student meets the criteria for academic dismissal and the case is reviewed by the Academic Review Committee.
